This listing is for an original 1st pressing of Alexander Spence's (aka Skip Spence) solo album OAR from 1969 on Colombia Records CS 9831.
I acquired this album years ago from a man selling a handful of LPs from his personal collection. He said that he purchased Oar when it first was released and only played it once so he could record it on reel to reel tape. He said that he did this with all of his records and considering the pristine condition that all of the records that he was selling were in I have no doubt that he was telling me the truth. Fyi, recording albums onto reel to reel was a common practice for audiophiles back in the day. 
I worked in used record stores from my late teens to my mid 30s so I have a pretty good understanding of record grading and have always leaned towards under grading records, that way the ultra particular are satisfied and the rest of us and pleasantly surprised with what we get. 
I played this album in it's entirety last night and it played flawlessly. I also carefully visually examined both side of the album and saw no marks. Both labels are in fantastic condition with no spindle marks or wear. I carefully visually examined the cover and it is in excellent condition except for some light ring wear on the back cover (it looks a bit lighter in the photo than it does in person) and a faint line on the front cover at the top which seems like it might be a factory flaw as you can't feel the line with your finger like you could if it was a scratch. There are also a couple very small, light wear marks on the front cover but I'm talking about getting out the magnifying glass and looking for any possible flaw kind of thing. Includes original inner sleeve which is in very good condition albeit showing signs of age with ripples and some discoloration. Please look over all of the photos carefully, all of the flaws I have mentioned can be seen in them. 
This has to be one of the cleanest copies of this album out there, and believe me, I don't often make statements like that. In fact, besides needing money to put into my business, the only reason I am selling this acid folk masterpiece is that I'm too afraid to play it for fear I might damage it in some way, I've only actually played it once, besides last night, since I've owned this album and if the story that the guy who I bought this album from was telling me the truth than this album has only been played 3 times since it was purchased new.

Originals of this album are rare and ones in this nice of condition are now hens teeth so this is a rare opportunity to get yourself that showcase copy that you've always wanted.
