Description

Alexander "Skip" Spence is to the west coast psych scene, what Syd Barret is to British psych. After Moby Grape fell apart, Spence popped into the studio and spontaneously recorded this rivetting album, which is in turn playful and spooky, with singer songwriter stuff, country material and haunting psych. He plays all the instruments, does all the vocals and takes responsibility for the production. The guitar sound is definitely Grape and Spence's voice is very versatile. The vinyl is M- and there is only a minimal amount of crackle at the beginning of tracks 1 on both sides. There is one minuscule spindle mark on side 2 and ABSOLUTELY NO SPINDLE WEAR !! The Columbia red/white "360 Sound" labels are basically MINT. The cover has NO RINGWEAR whatsoever (highly unusual), little seam wear and a seam split at the bottom seam. There is very minor corner wear and a small corner crease on the top left. There are a couple of superficial spots on the front. There is a "Columbia Records Radio Station Service - Not For Resale" sticker on the front, which only adheres on the right. In one photo, I have folded it back to the right. The back of the cover is almost perfect. This is a great and classic item of the '60s and a treat for any lover of folk psych and psych rock. It's amazing that the cover is in such good shape - it being the original USA non- laminated 1st edition. Regrettably, Skip Spence died a few years ago, after having lived on the street for some time. A fine musician was lost.
