Description
Artist & Album Description: Alexis Korner was a British blues guitarist, sometimes referred to as "a founding father of British blues". Blues Incorporated, founded 1961 in London by Alexis with Cyril Davies on harmonica and vocals, were undoubtedly the master UK root that helped form the family tree of today's British blues and rock music direction.
The group included, at various times, Charlie Watts, Jack Bruce, Ginger Baker, Long John Baldry, Graham Bond, Danny Thompson and Dick Heckstall-Smith. It also attracted a wider crowd of mostly younger fans, some of whom occasionally performed with the group, including Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Brian Jones, Geoff Bradford, Rod Stewart, John Mayall and Jimmy Page.
This album “R&B from the Marquee”, a studio recording in 1962, is a genuine piece of British R&B history. Alexis Korner and Cyril Davis lead the line-up; supported by Graham Burbidge on drums, Spike Heatley on bass, Keith Scott on piano and Dick Heckstall-Smith on tenor sax. Long John Baldry joins the group to sign three numbers, while the other vocal honours go to Cyril Davies.
Record Grading and Condition: VG (Very Good) A small segment of the record across Tracks 1 on either side is warped, but the stylus appears to ride this while playing without ill effect. There are also slight scratches and scuffs on both sides, but the record plays OK with slight surface noise.
Sleeve Grading: G (Good) There is scuffing and some damage round the edges. Age discolouration is present on both sides. The name “B.H.PEREIRA” is handwritten on the notes side (sorry about that). There is a plastic interior sleeve.
Label & Authentication: Decca Ace of Clubs ACL.1130, Made in England, Recording first published 1962.
Note to intending buyers: This posting is from a collection of Blues Vinyl LPs of varying quality and rarity bought in the 1960s and early 1970s then stored until now; therefore I have tried to be deliberately conservative in stating rating levels according to eBay guidelines.
