The very first UK pressing 1962 original release of the mega rare and impossible to find R&B classic ! NOT a reissue .
Sleeve
R Stace first issue with flip backs on reverse and laminated front face . NO tears or rips . Slight laminate lifting toward spinal column and some light creasing visible . Excellent condition for an early mono first issue sleeve of forty years plus ! Impossible to locate like this and truly awesome in every respect.
The Marquee was an elite internationally known jazz club which operated in London weekly and exposed different facets of jazz such as modern, traditional, mainstream and pure gutsy R & B . This album was recorded shortly after the Blues Inc. opened at the Marquee and Alexis Korner added a phenomenal line up to this album presentation . Long John Baldry joined the group for this R&B classic performance to sing three tracks on this album which I think was the second to be produced in 1962. The raw talent of the artists on this album is magnificently projected through the most awesome R&B music such as “I got my Mojo Working”, “Hoochie Coochie” and their finale at the end of a long night.. “I Wanna Put a Tiger In Your Tank……..”
Labels
Mega rare Ace of Clubs plum, wide ridged label format , affiliated to the Decca record production line ,a subsidiary label which did not last for too long. Excellent condition with no mottling or peeling . Moderate number of spider lines . Beautiful examples of this label format with silver Ace still retaining its metallic sheen with no fading and projects magnificently against the claret coloration. This label had a minimal distribution , hence the extremely high value of this record ! £120 in RRPG and a must have for every R&B enthusiast.
Vinyl
Excellent visual with no deep scratches and a glorious sheen to die for . Not heavily played and carefully handled .Extremely light surface marks visible, few and far between, observed under ordinary light . Thick chunky , heavyweight cut and gives a buzz when held . Awesome vintage press !
Audio
Funky R&B music, pure vintage and a real classy delivery . At least a very good / excellent and considerably better in some parts, as tones rise above any surface disturbance to convey a delightful aural delivery . No major faults at all .
A rare exhibit and one to treasure for many years to come .
True investment quality , complete with the original mono inner sleeve which is in excellent ++ condition .
An awesome treat for the R&B enthusiast .
