Description

Artist: Alice Cooper Title: Under My Wheels
Format: 10" Single, 33&1/3 RPM Type: Acetate
Label: Warner Brothers CatNo: 21222 (written on the label) Date: December 25th, 1971
The band Alice Cooper (Vincent Furnier, Glen Buxton, Michael Bruce, Dennis Dunaway, and Neal Smith) released Under My Wheels as their first single from the LP Killers in late 1971. The song became a hit for the band, and after Vince Furnier went solo as Alice Cooper, he has played it in his live sets ever since.
For auction is a 10" one-sided acetate for the single release of Under My Wheels that was decided against releasing. It has a slightly different mix than what was ultimately chosen for the commercial release; there is a significant amount of echo applied to Furnier's vocals on this acetate that was removed.
If you collect records, you know what an acetate is. It isn't simply rare - it's unique. This acetate is aluminum coated with cellulose nitrate, it has a distinctive odor! As far as I am aware this acetate is the only representation of this mix in existence. The band cut it, listened to it, decided to change it, and moved on. I played it once (and only once).
I took an angled picture to try and show the timing marks drawn on the disk - it picked up some dust too :)
This comes in a generic sleeve.
