Description

This is a one-owner vintage original first pressing that includes the paper White Panties.  This is from my personal collection and I bought it new in 1972.  It was played on excellent audio equipment (Garrard Zero 100C or Empire 698 turntable with either a Stanton 681EEE or Empire 2000Z cartridge.) It has always been stored vertically and in my non-smoking home with AC.  Center labels are in excellent condition, and I am rating the album overall as VG+.

The album cover replicates a wooden school desk that depicts etchings by members of the band. The “desk” flips open to reveal the album.  Additionally, “legs” on the base (back of album cover) can be opened up enabling the desk to stand up.  I don’t think I ever exercised that option but can’t swear to it.  The original clear poly inner sleeve is included but I will put the record in a MoFi inner sleeve to ship.  Will also put entire album in Panmer outer sleeve to ship. Center labels of the album are in excellent condition.

The vinyl record inside was wrapped in a pair of white paper panties that were later discontinued as the paper panties were found to be flammable.  I have included a newspaper article that I clipped in 1972 from the “Roanoke Times” (newspaper out of Roanoke, VA) that references that issue.  The white panties are discolored some but in overall good condition for a 53-year-old paper item.  I was able to get them off of the album to take pics, but am not putting them back on for fear of damaging them.  There is one small slit on one edge of the panties that you can see in the pictures. They will be packed separately, sandwiched between two pieces of clean cardboard and sealed in plastic bag.  The album spine has no splits and to the right of the words “Printed In The USA” there is a 1/2” wear mark but it is not a split (see picture).  The album itself plays with no skips and is very clean as are the disc labels.  I did my best to take pics of the runout etchings, but they are very faint.  Runouts are etched as (see bold type):

  • Matrix / Runout (Side A runout, variant 2): BS-2623 40182-1
  • Matrix / Runout (Side B runout, variant 2): BS-2623 40183-1
I ship only to the 48 contiguous U.S. states.  Item will be well-packed and shipped via USPS Media Mail.  Please READ ENTIRE DESCRIPTION and VIEW PICS as they are part of the description too.  Please message me if you have questions.
