Welcome to My Nightmare , pubblicato nel 1975, è l'ottavo album in studio di Alice Cooper,. Questo è stato il primo album solista di Alice Cooper . Si tratta di un concept album, le canzoni, ascoltate in sequenza, formano un viaggio attraverso gli incubi di un bambino di nome Steven. L'album ha ispirato Alice Cooper: The Nightmare TV special , un worldwide concert tour nel 1975 e il Welcome To My Nightmare concert film nel 1976 . Nel 2011 è stato poi rilasciato il sequel Welcome 2 My Nightmare.

 

Biografia :

Alice Cooper ( Vincent Damon Furnier nato il 4 Febbraio del 1948 ) è un cantante, cantautore e musicista Americano di shock rock, la cui carriera abbraccia cinque decenni . Con uno spettacolo teatrale che dispone di ghigliottine , sedie elettriche , sangue finto , boa constrictor , e bambole di bambino, è considerato dai fan e colleghi alla stessa tregua di " The Godfather of Shock Rock" . Cooper è accreditato per aver contribuito a modellare il suono e il look dell'heavy metal , ed è stato descritto come l'artista che " ha introdotto l'immaginario horror nel rock'n'roll , e con la cui scenotecnica e spettacolarità ha trasformato definitivamente il genere " .

Originari di Phoenix , alla fine del 1960 dopo che Furnier si era spostato da Detroit , gli Alice Cooper erano in origine una band composta per l'appunto da Furnier alla voce e armonica , dal chitarrista Glen Buxton , Michael Bruce alla chitarra ritmica , Dennis Dunaway al basso e dal batterista Neal Smith . L'originale band degli Alice Cooper è riuscita a salire la classifica della musica internazionale con la hit "I'm Eighteen" tratta dall'album Love It to Death , del 1971, cui ha fatto seguito l'ancor più grande singolo "School's Out" , nel 1972. Nel 1973 la band raggiunse il suo picco commerciale con l'album Billion Dollar Babies .Nel 1970 Furnier ha adottato il nome della band come proprio nome e nel 1975 ha iniziato una carriera da solista con il concept album Welcome to My Nightmare . Nel 2011 ha pubblicato Welcome 2 My Nightmare , il suo 19° album da solista , e il suo 26° album in totale. Nell'espansione della sua carriera Cooper ha sperimentato con un certo numero di stili musicali , tra cui il rock concettuale ( conceptual rock ) , art rock , hard rock , heavy metal , New Wave , pop rock , rock sperimentale ( experimental rock ) e il rock industriale ( industrial rock ).Nel suo tempo libero , Cooper , è anche un attore cinematografico , una celebrità del golf , un ristoratore e , dal 2004 , un popolare dj radiofonico con il suo classico Show rock , Nights with Alice Cooper .Nel 2011 , la band originale degli Alice Cooper è stata inserita nella Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
