Original UK Capricorn label stereo 1st press LP.

This is the third studio LP by The Allman Brothers Band and recording began in September 1971, after the success of 'Live At The Fillmore East' their breakthrough album in July 1971. In October Duane Allman was killed in a motorbike crash and although the band decided to carry on, only three studio tracks feature Duane and four tracks were recorded with Dicky Betts before the sessions ended in December. The remaining two sides feature 'Mountain Jam' recorded during the Fillmore East Concert and included as a tribute to Duane by the rest of the band, with no overdubs.
This is the original issue with the laminated gatefold sleeve & lyric inner, printed in Germany coupled with the UK pressed records, due to problems with UK suppliers. These have the auto change linking of sides 1 & 4 on one disc and sides 2 & 3 on the other disc! Later issues had UK or USA printed matt sleeves, inners and the discs paired 1 & 2 and 3 & 4. This copy also has the earliest A-1, B-1, C-1, D-1 matrices of the very first pressings.
  The Warner Brothers front laminated gatefold sleeve is intact & in EX condition, with some corner/edge wear and some light laminate storage rubbing, with a couple of small areas of staining on the outer cover. The spine is intact and fully readable, the plain company inners are intact & in VG+ condition and the lyric inner is in EX Condition.   The records are in visually EX condition, with some faint sleeve removal hairlines and a couple of small needle scuffs/marks visible on each side. The labels are in EX condition, clean & bright with evidence of a couple of faint spindle markings on each side.   The sound reproduction is EX, still clear & precise throughout with no loud pops, hiss or crackle & definately no skips, sticks or jumps, but there is some low background noise during the run in grooves. Overall a really great, loud & clear listen.   The matrix nos. are; K-67501, A-1 mother stamper A-16, D-1 mother stamper A-12 & K-67501, B-1 stamper A-13, C-1 stamper B-11.
This is one of the early copies of the 1st pressing of the original 1972 UK stereo 1st issue of this album!
