Description
Original Liberty of the marvellous 1969 debut LP from the unique Amon Düül II.
Split apart from the more politicized fraction known as Amon Duul I (Psychedelic Underground, etc.), Amon Duul II emerged in 1969 when they released this fantastic debut album. It's a masterwork of drug-dazed guitar psych, long tracks, middle eastern influence, churning trance rock, etc. Where the music of Amon Duul I flowed freely like the loose collective of hippies they were, Amon Duul II was a delirious explosion of psychedelia that, with small exception, always kept one foot firmly planted in structure. The extended jams, especially the title track, have the benefit of being both very accessible, straight ahead, very very heavy, psychedelic rock while still retaining the spontaneity of imrovisation.
Condition-wise, this record looks worse than it is. Playing-wise, it is in (very?) good condition. I am reluctant to brand it VG so i wish to be careful with how i sell it. I am not an expert in record grading but it has marks on it which look worse than I think they actually are. These do not affect play and it still sounds great. Damage diagnosis: There is a diagonal mark over track 2, Dem Guten Schonen Wahren, a small mark on Luzifers Ghilom and the title track Phallus Dei (entire side 2) has a mark for the first half of the track, but none of these marks affect play and are surprising inaudible. Please do not bid for this record if you are looking for a copy of this in very good condition. It is good, and it sounds great, but has these silly marks. Don't know how else to say it!
The cover of this record is amazing, and a feast for the eyes, if they can stand it for long! A classic of that epoch, and very rare indeed.
The sleeve is in good condition but again, not mint - as the previous owner saw fit to touch up some of the red from the spine of the record which had been lost through wear and tear - but is in good condition also and I am very proud to own this record. However, like every other monkey, i am going digital, so i am jettisoning some of my finest vinyl, but this is still a great record - and it is an original and a great record to own - and it will make somebody very happy to have!
