Description

As the original Amon Duul II devolved into a directionless wreckage at the end of the 70's, guitarist/vocalist John Weinzierl split for England and reunited with former Amon Duul bassist Dave Anderson and formed what some collectors refer to as Amon Duul UK. Pulling together a new line-up and re-purposed energy, Amon Duul managed to redeem their sound into a post-rock prog wave for a new decade, and again with great female vocals. Their first LP, 1981's 'Hawk meets penguin' was a good return to form while 'Meeting with menmachines' follows the same formula and shorter songs. The choice of cover art, utilising graphics of the band from twelve years previous is unusual, but isn't entirely misleading, seeing that that was the vibe they were going for. Musically in line with other German bands who didn't completely lose it by 1980; Eloy, Jane, or Grobshnitt, Amon Duul UK produced a body of work that is well worth looking into. Cover would be a flawless EX++ if not for the top and bottom seams which reveal some pressure, but are still graciously holding on. Check the photos. The EX vinyl looks bright, reflective, and sounds awesome.
