Offered for Sale is "An Evening With MIKE NICHOLS and ELAINE May".
This Original Cast album features selected pieces from the Broadway presentation. The show opened October 8, 1960 in the Golden Theatre and was a critical smash with reviewers and audiences.
The stage performance was in many ways a precursor to the British and subsequent American television program "Whose Line Is It Anyway"? The premise of both concern ensemble improvisations of scenarios as suggested, at least in part, by the audience. The freshness of interaction between Nichols and May remains as timeless to modern ears as it must have to the audiences that packed Broadway's Golden Theatre during the fall of 1960.
This is on the Mercury Record Label, with the record COS 6200.
This is the original 1961 GATEFOLD LP, with the ORIGINAL inner sleeve.
This LP had never been played, (till now) but as a PROMO I received it open. I play tested it and can say 100% that the record is primo. The album jacket may or may not have slight wearing, from being boxed and moving around all these years. Please check photos.
NOTE: I was a buyer for two different record chains in Hollywood, Ca. As such, I received a couple of boxes of records a week, to entice me to buy. More often than not, they were always open copies, and if you wanted to sell them to a used record store you could only get about a $1.00 cash, or $2.00 in trade for them.
