Heads up, all Chess Records/Cadillac Records, The Gems, Rotary Connection fans on this very collectible and historical release on the legendary Chess label, "(I'm A) Lonely Girl" by Andrea Davis, pseudonym for the World's Greatest Background Singer, the immortal Miss Minnie Riperton. Etta James, whose own recordings, including the single and album feature Minnie Riperton & The Gems, stated that all Chess artists did other jobs at the label if they were not making their own recordings, Etta recalling that Minnie was the Chess switchboard operator. For her debut single, Minnie was given an original composition, "(I'm A) :Lonely Girl" which was written for her by labelmate and Blues legend Sugar Pie DeSanto, who is clearly heard doing background vocals in front of The Gems.
