ANDREW HILL COMPULSION! Blue Note BST 84217
Up for auction is a stone original copy of the U.S. Blue Note NY (Liberty) Stereo press (1967) of Andrew Hill's timeless avant yet primal lp, "Complusion!". A dense and difficult (and richly rewarding) listen. One of Blue Note's finest. Big, big names on this one (Freddie Hubbard, John Gilmore, Joe Chambers). This lp was never pressed as a Plastylite lp. All original copies are Liberty pressings. Early copies have NY labels. This one has NY labels, and is just a superb player.
DEAD WAX INFO: Side 1 has BNST - 84217 A etched into the dead wax. Side 2 has BNST - 84217 B etched into the dead wax. Both sides have VAN GELDER stamped into the dead wax. Stone OG 1967 Blue Note NY (Liberty) Stereo pressing. VINYL VISUAL: VG+ and much better on this pressing with storage mottling and minor marks. A cleaning may elevate grade. Previous owner stamp in black ink both labels (not as noticeable on Side 1 - see pictures). Labels show one or two plays.
VINYL PLAY GRADE: NM at best on this OG Stereo with FANTASTIC fidelity and very little noise level. Probably one of the best avaiable listens out there.
COVER VISUAL: NM at best with few issues, including same name stamp (not too badly placed), minor corner wear bottom front right, OG price tag top right front and slight musty smell.
COMES WITH OG PRINTED 27 YEARS PAPER INNER, which I have lined with an Audiophile Diskeeper rice plastic inner.

Play grade is done on a Thorens TD 165 through Yamaha amplification and JBL reference headphones (treble set high so there will be no surprises when you get the item).
ALL ITEMS WILL BE SHIPPED WITH PROPER MAILERS AND EXTRA PADDING, PARTICULARLY AT THE CORNERS. I HAVE MADE FAR TOO MANY PURCHASES ON EBAY WHERE THE ITEM HAS ARRIVED WITH DINGED CORNERS DUE TO INADEQUATE PACKAGING MATERIAL. BY USING FOLDED BUBBLE WRAP IN ALL FOUR CORNERS, YOU CAN BE ASSURED OF AN ITEM WITHOUT DINGED CORNERS (OR DAMAGE OF ANY KIND FOR THAT MATTER). Non-tracked shipping throughout the U.S.A will be $13 CANADIAN per item, as will tracked shipping within Canada. Tracked shipping to the U.S.A. will be $16 CANADIAN for items under 500g, and slightly more for items over 500g. Most single sleeve items can be shipped as under 500g. Gatefolds and multi-sets will be over 500g.
Being a reasonable person, I will be absorbing ALL of the shipping material cost, and some of the actual postage cost.

I do offer full refunds (excluding cost to get it back to me), on any item that is not satisfactory. SINCE SHIPPING OUTSIDE OF NORTH AMERICA IS RIDICULOUSLY EXPENSIVE (Thank You Canada Post), I will rarely list gatefolds or multi-items for sale overseas. IF ANYONE OUTSIDE OF NORTH AMERICA IS CRAZY INTERESTED IN ANY ITEM, I WILL QUOTE SHIPPING ON REQUEST. Since a lot of the stuff that I will be selling is of higher end quality, rarely will things be offered overseas. Sorry folks. Again, I can consider requests on an item-by-item basis.
