Probably the greatest event in the history of recorded music was the phenomenal transition of the Merengue. Having its birth in old Spain, it was brought to the Colonies of the New World.

In that same ear the dance the ve rege was established. under the name of "Merengue."

The oldest country in the New World is Santo Domingo, known today as The Dominican Republic. The Dominican cances are many and varied, but the one chosen to represent the Republic is the Merengue.

The tremendous demand for the Merengue was heard around the world, and first in line to supply new found Merengue fans was: ANSONIA RECORDS, INC. Accompanying the CONJUNTO is DIORIS VALLADARES.

It seems that nowhere was to be found a vocalist with greater depth and feeling for interpreting Merengues. Dioris has a touch of genius all his own and his sparkling vocals more than help to inspire the crowds of Merengue fans. Most often Dioris can be found expertly handling the Gourd (Güiro), the instrument causing the grating sound so familiar and typical of the Merengue rhythm.
