Description

Animal Collective - Hollinndagain vinyl LP on St. Ives (SAINT04) 300 copies

The copy I have was bought from the band while they were on tour here in California.  It was bought at the Davis, CA out of their touring van, and all the dudes were there with smiles.  Even though there was 300 copies of this intial pressing there is no number specifying which number it is.  The band was given record sleeves from St. Ives, whch is a subsidiary label of Secretly Canadian, to use as the sleeves.  The record sleeve has been cut, so the edges are jagged.  The sleeve was painted this bright orange and traces of the paint are on the inside part of the sleeve. On this copy the inside-out sleeve is a Loren Mazzacane Connors/Suzanne Langille LP "Enchanted Forest".  The artwork was hand made by the band, and each of the St. Ives LP's has original artwork.  They told me it was a cheap, aesthetically pleasing method since this was a release primarily for sale on their 2002 US tour. With that in mind, the group painstakingly designed each hand-cut piece of what-appears-to-be silvery forest wrapping paper.  There are some bubbles in the affixed pieces of paper showing the slap-dash method and time constraints in the process.  The vinyl itself is in mint condition, even after 8 years I've only played it a few times.  There is a scuff on the outer edge on one side of the vinyl, but it does NOT register when played.  The scuff unfortunately was there when I bought it from the band, and I beleive they only had a handful of copies left to sell.

They played a great set the night this was bought which included many of the structured parts you hear on the "Here Comes the Indian" LP.  They returned the following year to play a fantastic "Sung Tongs" set with just Avey Tare and Panda Bear.  Stories aside, this is a special document  that I've resisted selling in the past.  I wish I did not have to sell this but being a dad, a state worker, and financially troubled has humbled my expectations of collecting vinyl records.  Animal Collective embodied everything it was to be in your early 20's and free of life's obstructions.  I'm asking a fair price since I consider this a collector's item.  I was happy to see the band reissue this album so others could hear it, and I bought a CD version so I could rock out in the car.  With that said, this is the original document that has grown in stature since the time I bought it for 10 bucks and some Cali "green".  I want this to go to a good home because I am a fan... I've seen the boys in every configuration from them crawling on the ground "moaning" to selling out the Warfield in SF.  I can work with you on shipping and insurance, just specify your request when you pay.  Thank you.
