Annie Ross 1st Press OZ LP Gypsy NM ’59 Philips J7 Buddy Bregman Jazz Vocal Bop
Original 1st Press OZ LP released in 1959 on the Deep Groove Philips Label. Cat: J7. This album is in MONO.Over the next few weeks I will be listing some wonderful Jazz titles from a recently acquired Jazz collection. The original owner passed away back in 1985 and his sister decided to hold onto them for sentimental reasons. She had not touched or played them since then (1985!!). The records are in stunning condition for their age many, apart from a few light age spots on the covers, look like they walked off the shelf yesterday. I hope you enjoy viewing and possibly purchasing these wonderful jazz vinyl artifacts as much as i have in preparing them for sale and listening to them!!
Recorded at a time when the singer was just starting to get known for her work with Lambert, Hendricks and Ross, the set is a swinging but largely straight rendition of the score from the play "Gypsy." The all-star backup band mostly functions as an ensemble during the Buddy Bregman arrangements (although altoist Herb Geller and trombonist Frank Rosolino have short spots on "All I Need Is A Boy"), taking "Overture" as an instrumental that introduces some of the main melodies. Ross is in excellent form, performing a memorable version of the score's one real hit "Everything's Coming Up Roses" and somehow sounding serious on "Let Me Entertain You."
There are a few light spindle marks on labels. Record is in Near MInt condition. Gloss cover with back flaps has light ring wear, a small number written on back top right and a few tiny surface tears around edges and is in VG++ condition.

Wrapping method: All records are sent in stiff cardboard mailers then wrapped in brown paper and sealed around edges with brown packaging tape. Records are taken out of sleeve to avoid seam splits and ring wear.
Post methods within Australia: All records are posted via Australia Post. Within Australia all items come with a tracking number.
Post method for overseas: All parcels are sent via Australia Post and are sent on a standard airmail service. There are no tracking numbers on these items. If you require a tracking number the item will have to be sent as an insured item which incurs a further postage fee.
