Description

This Berliner disc was recorded in Leipzig on 25 May 1899.

Brian Rust, discographer writes: "On 17 May 1899, Fred Gaisberg and Sinkler Darby arrived in Leipzig as their first stage of a whirlwind tour of European Cities where they recorded a number of sides by way of introducing Emile Berliner's Gramophone to the Continent." On this basis this is probably one of the very first disc recordings made in that city.

The recording is of a "Prussian March" and I have increased the contrast on the photo so you can read all the details.

The record is in reasonable condition and plays through quite clearly without any jumping or sticking.

Your chance to own a piece of German recording history.
