Description

An original 1st issue of ASOBD on the UK CBS label from summer 1964 - whilst charting. Matrix A1/B1 - very 1st cut. Note how the labels are textured with a '33' speed - this is consistent with 1st issue. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original cover with flipbacks. Also included is an original '64 generic white inner with 'patent pending'. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex-) In superb condition and has only seen relatively light use. Under close inspection I could only make out a couple of light mark per side - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT level of playback with one deviation. This really is a very well preserved record. Many copies might 'look good' , but really disappoint on 1st listen. They have to 'look good' & 'sound good' to stand half a chance of delivering this Dylan classic to a proper standard. Otherwise you are going to be left sorely disappointed. This is 100% acoustic delivery...any background crackle and it is game-over! This copy has defied the odds and landed into 2020 in terrific condition. The audio is dreamy and takes you straight back to '64 and immediately reveals why Dylan was always going to hit new heights as an artist very quickly. Ok, most importantly this is a clean player with a very quiet background. Believe me when I say that is not an easy find. The audio is clean as a whistle for the most part. Yes, you might detect the odd static crackle here and there - but this is predominantly a clean player which would be difficult to equal in my opinion. The only deviation is a bit of 'sibilance' in track 1 on side 2. Nothing excessive it's just the delivery won't be quite as clean as the rest of the LP. Overall I'd argue this is a seriously good rendition which, in reality, is a very difficult find indeed. Highly recommended.
Cover (Ex) Wow, not seen many looking this well preserved. Given that this title is predominantly white it is so so hard to find in proper clean and unaged condition. But the owner of this copy must have been one fastidious individual as this copy is almost totally unaged. The front is shiny and white with barely any issues - just a slight crease in the bottom right corner. The rear remains very nice and white with perhaps one slight blemish and only very superficial handling. There's barely any edge wear at all and the openings look very fine indeed. The spine is 100% intact. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity. Can't really imagine finding a better example really..
Inner (Vg+) Lightly aged, but no splits.
