Classical record connoisseurs know full well the legendary status of Antal Dorati's early Mercury Living Presence Stereo albums. Among the finest is this 1959 edition of Dorati at the helm of the London Symphony leading choice performances of Mendelssohn's Symphony No. 3 and the atmospheric Fingal's Cave Overture. V.S.O.V. offers today a near-Pristine exemplar of that original Mercury disk. Original Mercury Living Presence Album, 1959, Serial No. Stereo SR 90123. Deadwax mechanically stamped FR-1(Side 1) and FR-1 (Side 2) thus First Pressings of First Edition. This Disk is in remarkably fine condition for its 63 years of age. Close visual inspection under bright light shows vinyl retains high gloss sheen on both sides. Only some very light sleeve scuffs visible Side 2. Disk Play Graded twice with similar results: Side 1, still Near-Mint, a very few intermittent ticks. Side 2 a few intermittent ticks. Otherwise Flawless both sides. Album still projects the awesome clarity, sharpness of focus, and dramatic sonic range and excitement of original, early Mercury Living Presence Stereo. Note Carefully inner paper sleeve is a Capitol Full Dimension Stereo edition of the era still in Near-Mint condition. Original Mercury Jacket also easily Near-Mint presenting very high gloss front and fully intact rear and seams. Not a Cut-Out. Thus a highly collectible and Very Rare exemplar of one of Dorati's greatest recordings with early Mercury Living Presence Stereo showcasing the inimitable ensemble playing of the London Symphony in this exacting and fabulous high Romantic Era orchestral repertoire,
