Stravinsky: The Firebird (Complete Ballet)
(Mercury AMS 16038 UK LP 1960)
This is a UK Stereo 1st pressing LP in very nice overall condition! This is the very earliest UK pressing. Distribution of "Mercury Records" was through "EMI" in the UK. The LP has a heavyweight front laminated flipback sleeve. It comes with its original polythene-lined generic "Emitex" company inner sleeve. The record is pressed on thick vinyl & has mauve Mercury "Living Presence" labels. These are grooved also. It has 1st press SR 90226A and SR 90226B matrix numbers.
This is a genuine UK 1st pressing of this rare UK Stereo Classical LP. This is a highly regarded UK Classical LP too. It is on the "TAS" or "The Absolute Sound" list. A great performance & recording. Sleeve: There is some mild or more moderate fading to the "white" of the rear sleeve. There is a 3 cm hairline scratch mark on the front sleeve (see photo). This is at the top opening area. This is not too noticeable. There is some light, very mild or very minor rubbing wear to the corner tips. The spine is in fantastic condition. It shows next to no wear. There is some light or very minor ringwear on a few areas. Very Good+ condition.
Vinyl: Very nice indeed! There are a very few light or very minor sleeve rubs which can barely be seen under a strong light. The inner sleeve, over time, has left some light, mild or very mild dull surface marks on some areas. These, again, can hardly be seen under a strong light. These are mainly on the dead wax areas. EXCELLENT condition. The labels are in Excellent+ condition and show minimal spindle wear only. The company inner sleeve is in Very Good++ condition. There is some light, mild or very mild ringwear, fading & creasing. There are no seam splits.
I have play tested this LP in its entirety. Side 1 plays Very Good+ to Near Excellent overall, & Excellent in some places. There is some light, mild, very mild or very minor crackle in some places. It never overpowers the music. The music still shines through! Side 2 plays Near Excellent to Excellent overall & Excellent+ in some places.
This is a very reasonable audio copy. However, this LP would definitely benefit from a deep down groove clean in a professional record cleaning machine. Visually the disc looks in Excellent condition. Therefore, any crackle is just due to deep down dirt in the grooves. It would play, I believe, Excellent+ and better after a professional clean. It would remove any crackle.

MINT Condition = A perfect copy! Almost impossible to find like this.
NEAR MINT Condition = Very nearly mint just slightly under, There may be a very few, very light paper surface sleeve rubs that can hardly be seen under strong light. This disc has been played a couple of times at most. The sleeve is virtually perfect - there is very minimal wear only.
EXCELLENT Condition = A clean & tidy copy that shows minimal defects. There will be light, very mild or very minor surface sleeve rubs. There will be no scratches. The cover will be very nice & clean with maybe minimal creasing, ringwear or edge rubbing wear etc...
NEAR EXCELLENT Condition = You can tell this record has been played a few times, but it has been well cared for. There will be minor surface marks only. The sleeve may have light, mild or very mild creasing,ringwear & very mild rubbing wear to the edges etc.... Overall, it will be a very serviceable copy that you will be pleased with.
Very Good Condition = A well played but very decent overall copy. There will be a few marks on the vinyl, but they won't be nasty scratches, just relatively light needle scuffs and sleeve removal marks, they will be noticeable but won't detract from play too much. Cover will show signs of storage/ ageing, e.g., creasing, slight folding, spinewear, ringwear or sticker tears etc... The record will not be trashed!!

All records will be sent in high quality packaging. All records will be extremely carefully & securely packaged to ensure safe arrival to you. The dispatch time will generally be between 1-3 days after payment. I always remove the inner/ LP from the sleeve & place them, with the sleeve, in a polythene outer sleeve. This will prevent seam splits to the sleeve during the shipping process. I often remove the vinyl from the original inner sleeve & place it in a separate plain paper, or polythene-lined, inner sleeve. I am very conscientious and careful when packaging your records.
