Description
Harry Smith's celebrated 'Anthology Of American Folk Music', originally issued in 1952. This was where Dylan, Baez, and the Greenwich Village folkies discovered the then forgotten treasure trove of Appalachian, old-timey, country blues, gospel, cajun + more from 1927-32, and 'The Old Weird America' right beneath their feet, kick-starting the 60s folk revival. Its historical importance cannot really be overstated. A two LP boxed set with a characteristically eccentric 28 page booklet - this is Volume 3, enigmatically subtitled 'Songs'. On the blue Folkways label, catalogue no. FA 2953, matrix nos. FP253A/FA2953B-2/FP253C-2/FP253D. Discs are in VG+ condition, a few minor marks but play fine, booklet is in EX condition. Cover photo of a farm labourer, the box lid is splitting a bit at the corners, with a few sellotaped repairs, but otherwise intact.
