This album is considered by all to be the record which launched Bossa Nova music. Even though Jobim had already collaborated briefly with De Moraes this was the first commercial album they wrote together. Joao Gilberto (uncredited on the sleeve) plays guitar on the first recorded version of Chega De Saudade as well as another song. This version of Chega De Saudade became legendary,and is considered officially as the first bossa nova recording. On it appeared for the first time Gilberto's syncopated guitar style which was to become a trademark of bossa.
The LP I am auctioning here is very rare especially in the condition it's in! It is the very first pressing of this album from 1958 on a small Brazilian label called Festa. It has the catalog number Festa LDV 6.002. It is not to be confused with later pressings such as the 1967 reissue on Festa (FESTA IG 49002) or yet another reissue in 1981.
The vinyl is in EX+++ condition. It's probably only been played a few times. The sleeve is in EX++ condition too! If you are a serious Bossa Nova vinyl collector, then you definitely need this LP in your collection!
