description Details Selected Ambient Works 85-92 is an ambient techno album by Richard D. James under the pseudonym of Aphex Twin. This was his third release and his debut studio album under this alias. It was originally released in 1992 on the Belgian techno label Apollo (a spin-off of R&S). This record is, at the least, a landmark in modern electronic music and has been compared to the work of Brian Eno and The Orb. By drawing on influences as varied as Kraftwerk and Philip Glass, it's the release that catapulted techno into its ambient future. Muted thumps are washed over by diffused synths and it all sounds touched by the soft warm hand of an alien robot. Many of the sound effects were created with homemade gear circuit-bent by Richard James himself, aka Aphex Twin. New repress on double-vinyl in a full-color jacket.Label:
