Vinyls EX+ Under bright light only few fine hairlines and scuffs were visible. Very clean and shining surface. It is clearly that the record was played only a few times. I have played the entire album from the beginning to the end (all four sides) and it sounds superb without any background noise and only with very light crackle wich can be heard in the quiet parts and the run-ins/outs. Powerful and clear sound of the original press. Numerous musical instruments (organ, piano, flute, percussion, vibers, conga drums, trombone, etc.) sound extremely realistically and very expressively. There are lots of quiet parts in this album (you have to remember) and they sound great without any problems. Only few light clicks to entire album. Perhaps it is all. I think not so much for 4 sides and 77 min 58 sec of cult music. Superb example. Close enough to NM' condition. I am sure that the future owner easily confirm my words.* I think that more sellers on eBay grade this condition as strong NM but ........I am very serious about this word and rarely use it in my descriptions (even if the record deserves such an assessment ).
Labels EX+ Clean and bright. I can not see any spindle marks (please see photo).
Sleeve EX/EX+ Original laminated gatefold sleeve is in superb condition with very light signs of use. There are only a few short creases near the edges and barely noticeable (only under bright light) slight shaping around disk at the both sides. Of course there are not any damage, writting, splits, tears or stickers etc. Inside gatefold is very clean. Perhaps it is all. Outstanding copy (please see photo ).
Spine EX+ (please see photo).
Inner sleeves VG+ The plain white original inner sleeves are still in nice condition.
Outstanding example of a cult album with Stunning Clear Audio and Brilliant sleeve .
I have just the same in my personal collection UK original with Vertigo Swirl label. Of course it sounds some better but not so much. Really.And I think that UK Original in such condition would be at least from GBP 400. May be more...
Grading System: In order to assist everyone who buys and sells rare discs, Record Collector magazine has originated a set of standards for the condition of second-hand records, I have added a (+) or (-) to my gradins where applicable.
MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.
EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.
VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.
FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.
POOR: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.
BAD: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.
