Ariel Pink is one twisted cat. His 'Haunted Graffiti' series and music in general divides opinion like few others, is it absolute shite or inspired genius? For the record; we fall into the latter category. We can think of few others who have such a defined character on the brink of madness, sweeping the outer limits of pop detritus to pick out the foistiest bits of dogged weirdness that somehow stick together with a baffling cohesion. 'Loverboy' was originally released on BBP records back in 2002, but unless you're the most dedicated digger in the world, you'd be totally forgiven for missing it. The tracks were all recorded between '01-'02 with his usual lo-fi techniques and feature a little help from similarly hair-brained buddies like John Maus to make some of the oddest music you've heard in ages.There's no boxes to put Ariel Pink in, which makes his music so much more alive and bristling with energy than 99% of the pretenders out there. If you've got empathy for Cosmic Dennis Greenridge or find yourself making up songs on the toilet, this is for you!
