Rare Collector’s Opportunity: Authentic 1967 Mono White-Label Promotional Pressing
Up for sale is an artifact of folk-rock counterculture history: an original 1967 White Label Promotional Copy of Arlo Guthrie's seminal debut studio album, Alice's Restaurant. While millions are familiar with the standard commercial stereo releases, genuine vintage Mono Promos feature a completely unique, vastly punchier audio mix that was optimized specifically for AM radio airplay. White-label radio station promos from this era are exceptionally scarce, especially with intact matching jackets. This copy is even more rare with the -1A designation showing it was a 1st pressing from the masters.
Produced by legendary folk figure Fred Hellerman (of The Weavers), the album sessions captured the peak of the late-1960s Greenwich Village folk revival.
Side 1 features the full, uninterrupted 18-minute-and-20-second masterpiece "Alice's Restaurant Massacree"—a satirical, talking-blues protest epic against the Vietnam War draft that became an anti-war anthem and a Thanksgiving classic.
Side 2 showcases Guthrie’s versatile range as a songwriter, spanning ragtime, melancholy folk, and whimsical humor across numbers like "Chilling of the Evening," "The Motorcycle Song," and "Highway in the Wind". (this is side really highlights the dynamics of the vinyl and analog recording)
