Description
This is Blue Note Records BLP 1507, The Jazz Messengers At The Cafe Bohemia Volume 1, a Lexington Ave., deep groove, microgroove label, original mono issue of this classic record, featuring Horace Silver, Hank Mobley, Kenny Dorham and Doug Watkins, with RVG etched and the ear (p) mark stamped in the dead wax. The vinyl also has a flat edge. The record is visually in VG (maybe VG-) condition, with marks on both sides, but it plays much better than it looks with only occasional light background crackle and with no skips or distortion of the music. This is a fine listening experience. The glossy, frame cover, with the 767 Lexington Ave., New York 21 address, has a name in pen on the back and shelf wear most evident on the back, but is otherwise intact. (BTW, the name is Austin Wells, an excellent but obscure Bay Area pianist). The labels show some light spindle marks. This is an excellent initial "play" grade copy of this beautiful original mono Blue Note with all the proper markings evident. The record was cleaned on a VPI 17 and played on a Linn Sondek LP-12 in mono mode. Please check our other listings as we discount shipping for multiple wins. Thanks for looking.
