Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers THE BIG BEAT Blue Note 5029 47 West 63rd NYC Vinyl.
This is the first pressing, RVG-stamped, Deep Groove, “P” pressing of Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers THE BIG BEAT on the 47 West 63rd NYC labels of Blue Note 4029. “P” or “ear” in deadwax. “R” under “Note.” Musicians include Blakey, Lee Morgan, Wayne Shorter, Bobby Timmins, Jymie Merritt.
VINYL has consistent low-level to medium level pops and ticks. Several tracks have locked grooves. Both Side 1 and Side 2 have excellent gloss, with various long feelable marks. 47 West 63rd NYC Deep Grooved labels are clean with minimal spindle marks. Instruments big, bold, dynamic, full of tone, clean and clear.
LAMINATED COVER is in very good condition. Aging, top seam two-inch split. Back jacket: aging and some water spots present. Corners mildly worn.
This LP was play-tested on a high-end system consisting of Music Hall MMF-7.3 turntable/Ortofon Bronze cartridge, Heed Audio Elixir integrated amplifier, Heed Quasar Phono stage and Quad S2 speakers (with very revealing ribbon tweeters). Record cleaned on VPI 16.5.
