Description
Blue Note BLP 4003. Art Blakey & The Jazz Messengers. Mono. 47 West 63rd address on the label and cover. No "R" on the label. RVG and the ear in the dead wax. The cover grades VG Minus. The front and back are in decent shape it's the seams and spine that are the issue. All 3 have splits that have been reglued. See photos 5-7 to view the repair. A visual grade of the record is GOOD Plus with significant surface wear. See the last 5 photos for surface condition. A play grade is better ranging between VG and VG+. It plays with surface noise but it never overwhelms the music. While this album is at the low end condition-wise it still has life in it. I'm starting at a low price because I think someone can still get enjoyment out of it. This would be good for someone with a vintage 1950's Hi-Fi set to play it.
When the surface condition of the record needs to be seen I provide at least 1 photo. I take the photos outside on a bright sunny day. I angle the record toward the sun for the greatest visibility. No 1000 watt light bulb is as good as the sun in disclosing flaws.
ATTENTION INTERNATIONAL BUYERS: The USPS created unnecessary chaos on 1/25/2021. Europe no longer has consistent pricing, it varies from country to country. Finland is $3.75 more than Sweden. Does that make sense? No, it doesn't. The UK, France, Germany and a few others have a lower rate. It's not possible for me to match every country with the correct rate. I've had to use the highest rate across the board. If your country ends up being dramatically lower I'll refund the difference. You can refer to USPS.com to check their rates.
GRADING
Near Mint or Mint Minus: My top grade. The record or cover will show the most minimal of wear. The record will have top gloss. The cover will be free from any ring wear, splits, or handwriting.
VG++ : Not quite Near Mint but a super clean, desirable record.
VG+ : The record or cover will show signs of wear but no significant defects.
VG : Obvious signs of wear but the record still has life in it. VG does not mean beat.
VG Minus : The record or cover will show moderate to heavy wear. For a common record this would not be an acceptable grade. For an in-demand, rare record it should be considered.
Good : Very heavy wear. This grade would only be acceptable if the record is rare enough that you might not see another copy available for sale or it's a rare record at a low price.
