ART BLAKEY & THE JAZZ MESSENGERS       The Freedom Rider    Blue Note  BST 84156
Up for auction is a stone original 1964 Blue Note stereo pressing of Art Blakey & The Jazz Messengers' lp, "The Freedom Rider". Compiled from three 1961 sessions featuring the classic quintet. Two Shorter originals, two Morgan originals, and a rather lengthy and gorgeous drum only solo Blakey composition (title track). Shorter's "El Toro" is a masterpiece. Essential early 60s bebop.   DEAD WAX INFO:  Side 1 has BNST-84156-A etched into the dead wax. Side 2 has BNST-84156-B and etched into the dead wax. Both sides have VAN GELDER and STEREO and the Plastylite P stamped into the dead wax. OG 1964 Blue Note Plastylite press, with the deep groove only on Side 1.     VINYL VISUAL: VG and better with light marking and a bit of paper rash / mottling. Labels show moderate play, definitely not overplayed. NOTHING DEEP! Could stand with another cleaning (I have cleaned this within the last year).
VINYL PLAY GRADE: VG+ with GREAT stereo Plastylite fidelity, and a low noise level with the odd light tick. This may improve with a cleaning.
COVER VISUAL: VG and a bit better with a small sticker tear top middle front cover, and general seam and spine wear. The top seam has fared the worst, with 2" of splitting from the spine out. Pen marks on rear. SEE PICTURES PLEASE. All-in-all shows pretty nice.
Comes with plain printed paper inner which I have lined with an Audiophile style rice plastic inner.   DETAILS ON SELLER AND SHIPPING
HELLO ALL. My name is Jamie, and I have been collecting records steadily for over 45 years.  After a bit of a respite from selling on Ebay, I am back and will be selling a ton of stuff over the next few years. My tastes run all over the map, so there will be something for everyone. All opened items will be visually AND aurally graded. All Dead Wax info will be listed. Play grade is done on a Thorens TD 165 through Yamaha amplification and JBL reference headphones (treble set high so there will be no surprises when you get the item).
ALL ITEMS WILL BE SHIPPED WITH PROPER MAILERS AND EXTRA PADDING, PARTICULARLY AT THE CORNERS. I HAVE MADE FAR TOO MANY PURCHASES ON EBAY WHERE THE ITEM HAS ARRIVED WITH DINGED CORNERS DUE TO INADEQUATE PACKAGING MATERIAL. BY USING FOLDED BUBBLE WRAP IN ALL FOUR CORNERS, YOU CAN BE ASSURED OF AN ITEM WITHOUT DINGED CORNERS (OR DAMAGE OF ANY KIND FOR THAT MATTER).             Non-tracked shipping throughout the U.S.A will be $13 CANADIAN per item, as will tracked shipping within Canada. Tracked shipping to the U.S.A. will be $16 CANADIAN for items under 500g, and slightly more for items over 500g. Most single sleeve items can be shipped as under 500g. Gatefolds and multi-sets will be over 500g.
Being a reasonable person, I will be absorbing ALL of the shipping material cost, and some of the actual postage cost.
If you have issue with an item, PLEASE work with me to achieve an outcome that will be to your satisfaction. I do offer full refunds (excluding cost to get it back to me), on any item that is not satisfactory.       SINCE SHIPPING OUTSIDE OF NORTH AMERICA IS RIDICULOUSLY EXPENSIVE (Thank You Canada Post), I will rarely list gatefolds or multi-items for sale overseas. IF ANYONE OUTSIDE OF NORTH AMERICA IS CRAZY INTERESTED IN ANY ITEM, I WILL QUOTE SHIPPING ON REQUEST. Since a lot of the stuff that I will be selling is of higher end quality, rarely will things be offered overseas. Sorry folks. Again, I can consider requests on an item-by-item basis. THANKS FOR READING, everyone.       Occasionally I will be selling rare and collectible CDs. Shipping obviously will be much less, around $5 CANADIAN within North America.
