Description
Art Blakey “The Jazz Messengers” Columbia Records 1956 1st edition (# CL 897 mono) in a cardboard sleeve. Similar to the other first pressing, with the same six-eye, deep groove Columbia labels. On the labels, "The Jazz Messengers" is in three lines, not two. The side number is larger and to the right of the label code, not on top of it. Otherwise, everything is the same. The back cover has a full-color layout of Columbia catalog records and reads "exciting moments from Columbia's treasury of jazz," with different records pictured. There is no address listed at the bottom. The record grading is Very Good (VG). There is a scratch at the beginning of Side 2/track 1 that produces a tick for around the 1st 50 seconds of playback. There are some smudges and a few other surface scratches (DNAP). Overall, the album plays just fine with some light underlying crackle at softer passages. It is very listenable with great fidelity. The outer case is Very Good Plus (VG+) with only some mild age wear on the covers. The back cover has some ink handwriting. Otherwise it’s very clean & sturdy with no splits nor dings to the spine nor seams - close to EX. (all reflected in the photos). All sales final.
NOTE: This album will ship with the inner sleeve & record OUTSIDE of the cover as to prevent any possible seam damage to the cover during shipment. Both the album cover and the inner sleeve & vinyl will be contained within a plastic protective sleeve inside of the shipping box with padding on top & bottom
