Prestige 7117, “Taylor’s Wailers” with Art Taylor, drums; Donald Byrd, Trumpet; Jackie McLean, alto sax; Charlie Rouse, tenor sax; Ray Bryant, piano; Wendell Marshall, bass; John Coltrane, tenor sax; Red Garland, piano; Paul Chambers, bass; from 1957. Original DG vinyl is a West 50th St. issue and plays at VG++ with very little background sound despite light marks on the surface; there is some light static when heard at close range which can be ignored from a distance. Heavy laminated jacket is VG+ with mostly solid seams except for about 2”(5 cm) of splitting at the bottom open edge; there is some laminate loss at the lower left corner, and general corner wear; there is slight rubwear and some age toning on the back cover (see scan); there are on bends and no writing. This is one of the great hard-bop sessions! Tracks are “Batland”, “CTA”, “Exhibit A”, “Cubano Chant”, “Off Minor”, and “Well You Needn’t”. Shipping is $4.00 media mail, $8.00 priority mail within the continental U.S.; $14.00 regular airmail to the U.K., Europe, Japan, Korea, and Australia; elsewhere inquire. Additional LPs in a single package are $1.00 per LP domestic, $2.00 elsewhere. For overseas shipments, I strongly recommend registered mail for $11.75 extra. (Last year, a package to the Netherlands was lost in shipment, resulting in disappointment on both sides.) Many old records are now practically antiques and should be treated that way. This LP will be packaged with the record inside an inner sleeve but outside the jacket; both are placed inside a sealed outer sleeve and shipped inside a special oversized handcrafted mailer with padding on all sides. It is designed thick enough not to be bent in transit and strong enough to withstand a drop from a second-story window. More than two LPs will be mailed together in a heavy Bags Unlimited pizza-style box. Your LP should arrive in the same condition as on the day it was shipped.
