Artie Shaw and his Orchestra – Begin the Beguine/Deep Purple 10” Shellac HMV B8906. Run Off Matrix no. 024079. Begin the Beguine was originally recorded on 24thJuly 1938 written by Cole Porter, Begin the Beguine was to define Shaw’s career as Bandleader and Clarinettist. Even now listening to it after all these years you can hear why. This one is a “must have” in any collection. On the B side Deep Purple recorded in December 1939 featured vocals by Helen Forrest. This single is part of the HMV Swing Music 1939 series. The Shellac has been play-tested and no issues.
