This is an Auction for a Sealed Copy of the first pressing of At the Drive-In Vaya on Fearless Records F040-1. I bought this from the band right after it came out in 1999 when I promoted their show at Hairy Mary's in 1998 or 1999.This is not the second pressing or the current limited reissue coming out next month. I'm pretty sure that the re-issues had a different back cover lay out with live photo, This has a photo of Cedric standing in a tunnel and the rest of the band standing behind them. The only reason that this is sealed is cause I bought the CD too. I remember Jim giving me crap about playing the CD and hording the record to sell for a bunch of money later.
A little bit about my relationship with the band. My first contact with the band came in the form of a phone call from Blaze James in early 97 though I had already heard about the band from the Sioux City kids. He told me they were "different" and I told him to send me a CD and I would see what I could do. After one listen I was on the phone to Blaze and booked them at Safari in April of 1997 supporting Boris the Sprinkler(which I have a video tape of somewhere that we filmed for a public access show I was involved with). I remember thinking at the time they were great but was unsure if the local kids who were obsessed with Ska and Punk would get them. It turned out that I was right because it would take 3 and opening for Fugazi to break them in Des Moines. Over the next few years I pushed them on everyone that would listen. Including my contacts at Fearless Records(I was thanked on In/Casino/Out as Davoaxiom)..Also I turned Paul Gray and the Slipknot guys(Shawn owned Safari at the time) on to ATDI and Paul bugged Ross Robinson to death about the band. In the years of promoting shows if there was ever a band that I felt should have been the biggest band on the planet, ATDI was that band.
Conditiion: I'm not a big fan of the grading system because too often it is based on opinion and one man's VG+ is anothers man's G. I also tend to grade things low but have found through past experience that regardless of how conservative I am, there is always someone out there that thinks it isn't conservative enough. The fact is that in the 20+ years that I have collected records and often bought new, no record is Mint and without a doubt nothing is Mint++.
