(Decca SXL 2020 UK LP 1958)

This is an original UK Stereo pressing in very nice overall condition! It has a fully laminated flipback sleeve. It has a top & bottom flipback only on the rear. These have a die-cut rounded  area at the centre. The sleeve has an extremely thin spine. There is no text printed on the spine. There is a blue border around the text on the rear sleeve. The rear on the sleeve has a printing date on the bottom flipback (A.W. 59.2). This means that the sleeve was printed in February 1959. It comes with its original polythene-lined "FFSS" company inner sleeve.

The record is pressed on heavyweight vinyl & has ED1 "wide band" Decca labels. Interestingly the labels are not grooved. Side 1's label is textured too. They have the "Original Recordings By.." text on them. It has 1st press ZAL-3521-5E and ZAL-3522-4E matrix numbers. 

A classic UK Classical LP. Part of the "TAS" list too. This is a genuine UK ED1 1st pressing. It has a fully laminated sleeve which has a blue border on the rear. It has part textured "Decca" labels. Sleeve: There is some mild or more moderate rubbing wear to the corner tips. There is a very small 0.5 cm seam split at the bottom corner tip - at the sleeve opening. There are a few light or very mild creases at the spine. These are all very small. There is some light or very mild fading on the rear sleeve on some areas. There is some light or mild ringwear. VG+ condition. These early UK Decca sleeves are quite prone to wear. This is a very reasonable copy overall.  

Vinyl: There are some light, mild or very mild sleeve rubs which can be seen under a strong light. There are 3 very small 0.5 cm hairline marks on Side 2. There are 2 very small 0.5 cm hairline marks on Side 1 also. VG++ condition. The labels are in Excellent+ condition and show minimal spindle wear. The company inner sleeve is in Very Near EX condition. There is some light ringwear & fading only. There are no seam splits.

I have play tested this LP in its entirety. Side 1 plays Near Excellent to Excellent overall, & Excellent+ in some places. There is some light or very light crackle in a few quieter places. Side 2 plays VG+ to Near Excellent overall, & Excellent in some places. There is some light or very mild crackle in the background of the 1st track. This eases out over the course of this track. Otherwise, there is some light or very light crackle in a few quieter places. There are 4 or 5 mild clicks midway through Side 2.

This LP would definitely benefit from a professional clean. It's a very reasonable audio copy anyway. However, this would, I believe, remove the crackle and the few mild clicks. This is caused by deep down dirt in the grooves. Visually the disc is very nice & clean overall. It would play Excellent+, I believe, after a professional clean.

All records will be sent in high quality vinyl mailers with at least two card stiffeners either side of the LP or 7". I use a cruciform box for larger orders (4-6 LPs). All parcels will be marked "Fragile" and dispatch time will generally be between 2-3 days after payment.

I will also remove the vinyl from the sleeve & place them in a re-sealable polythene sleeve. In order to prevent seam splits. Depending on the inner sleeve; I often remove the vinyl from the inner sleeve & place it in a separate plain paper, or polythene-lined, plain inner sleeve. I am very conscientious and careful when packaging your LP(s).
