Description

This is part of a large auction featuring mainly early Atlantic R&B/doo-wop 45's. There is lots of great stuff here including Ivory Joe Turner, Ruth Brown and some of the more obscure artists. There is also some cool bonus listings. Check back in a couple of weeks for another King/Federal auction.

Release: Ray Charles - You Be My Baby / My Bonnie

Format: 45 rpm 7" single


Year: 1958


Notes: White label promo first pressing. Earlier single by Charles who really defined the sound of Soul on the Atlantic label. A-side is more an of an uptempo stomper, bordering on an R&B sound. The b-side is more of a standard and probably the version that inspired the Beatles' version on their first single with Tony Sheridan.


Vinyl Condition: VG+, Vinyl itself is in great shape with basically no wear at all. It sounds great with no skips/ticks/bumps, plays with hardly any background noise at all. Play grade is solidly VG+. Labels are super-clean as well with no writing/scuffing/tears. Really nice copy overall.


Sleeve Condition: G+, sleeve has significant wrinkling and some water staining. No splits or tears. Small number written in pencil.
