Description

This is part of a large auction of blues, doo-wop & R&B 10" 78's. There are quite a few on Atlantic, a nice group of Peacock and some other great records. Almost all of these came from the collection of a 1950's Yale radio DJ. Across the board, they have been played very little.

Format: 78 rpm 10" shallac record


Year: 1951


Notes: Red & black label first pressing. Another tough to find record and the only one released by this obscure Gospel singer. Thomas is backed on this by The Gospel Pilgrims, whose only record was Atlantic 928. These were quite likely recorded together in late 1950. Great soulful gospel sounds on this one with a hint of the blues.


Record Condition: E+, The record itself is in really nice shape & plays very well, doesn't seem to have been played much at all. No scuffs or scratches, but there is visible cosmetic hazing. Sound is clean and clear. Labels are also very clean with no writing/tears, but there is some light scuffing. This is a nice copy overall, but on the lower end of E+.


All records I sell have been personally cleaned and play tested. I am an experienced grader and use the VJM grading system, but please see pictures as so much of this is subjective. These will be shipped in sleeves in a cardboard sandwich in a box for maximum protection.
