Description

Thanks to Jurgen Meyer who did not pay all this time, I am listing this again. If you buy this, please pay within 3 days.

Thomas L. Clear's anthology of transfers of rare 78 RPM and early audiotape recordings.
Issued circa 1974 as a 3 record set in an edition of 250 copies. The set is an anthology of rare and scarce violin music, almost all transfered from 78 rpm recordings. The names of the violinists included, and the music they play is printed in the accompanying booklet. This original set only came with 1 booklet. Latter editions came with a pamphlet and a 4th disc.
Tom allocated to each violinist he selected for inclusion in the set the equivalent of one 78 RPM side. For each violinist, Tom provides his own short biography. In the order in which they appear on the 3 LPs, the honor roll of violinists that Tom included, is:
Jacques Thibaud Jeno Hubay Carl Flesch Henri Marteau Cecelia Hansen Mischa Elman Duci de Kerekjarto Laszlo Szentgyorgi Louis Zimmerman Alexander Moguilewsky Franz von VecseyIbolyka Zilzer Tosha Samaroff Eddy Brown Albert Spaltung Alfred Dubois Gerhard Taschner Alberto Bachmann Richard Czerwonky Heinz Standke Henri Merckel Juan Manen Alfredo San Malo Manuel Quiroga Gregors Dinicu Georges Unesco Miguel Candela Rene Benedetti Samuel Gardner Karl Freund Joseph HassidIbolyka Zitze Hugo Kohlberg & Tossy Spivakovsky. Issued in a strictly limited edition, and even though additional copies of individual records do exist, all of these are in the possession of the Clear Estate. Tom intended to sell (or give away, if it was the right person or institution) 250 copies, and only 250 copies, and he stuck to his word implacably. Box is VG+. Discs are M-.
