This auction is for one of the holy grails of Rock and Roll! Presented here is an original Excellent Condition Original 1956 Elvis Presley Self-Titled LP, US Printing (RCA LPM-1254). Elvis' self-titled first LP is widely considered the cornerstone inception of Rock and Roll music, and is undeniably one of the most important Pop/Rock records ever made. This copy has been very lightly played/handled and has been preciously preserved in temperature controlled storage for over 40 years by the original owner. The vinyl itself plays beautifully without skips, and contains only minor surface wear from normal play. The most significant flaw is a light vertical scratch across Track 4 of Side 1, which can be seen in the close up image posted. This scratch does not cause any skipping during playback, however, it is acoustically noticeable as a repeating pop. Otherwise, the vinyl condition on either side contains only minor superficial blemishes and scuffing which are not sonically significant, or unpleasantly detrimental to the sound. I have listened to the record LOUDLY on a high-end turntable, and the sound quality is still impressive from beginning to end!
The record sleeve is in Excellent+ condition with no major rips, tears, alterations or likewise severe damage. There are light signs of handling around the edges, and extremely faint discolorations along the back lower edge of the sleeve. The original price sticker is featured on the back, and is in Mint condition. The spine is clean and firm, with the title and lettering still highly visible and undamaged. The original inner record slip is Near Pristine and is not damaged in any significant way, other than the expected paper yellowing of a 57 year old document.
Overall, this record is about as good as it gets for a lightly used 1956 pressing of Elvis Presley's self-titled debut, and you are unlikely to see another this clean on the market. Collectors know, this is an absolute necessity for any serious Rock record collection, and this gorgeously preserved copy displays and plays beautifully.
