Description
AUTOGRAPHED CONTEMPORARY RECORDS C2501 10 INCH 33 RPM HOWARD RUMSEY'S LIGHTHOUSE ALL-STARS PLAY SUNDAY JAZZ A LA LIGHTHOUSE (VOL. 2) LIVE AT THE LIGHTHOUSE CLUB IN HERMOSA BEACH, CA (APPROXIMATELY CIRCA 1953/1954 ). CLEARLY IN ROUGH CONDITION, BUT AUTOGRAPHED BY MOST OF THE MEMBERS OF THE BAND AT THAT TIME INCLUDING: HOWARD RUMSEY, RUSS FREEMAN, JIMMY GIUFFRE, BOB COOPER. THERE IS A SIGNATURE IN THE MYSTERIOUSLY LABELED TRUMPET PLAYER'S SECTION (WHICH FEATURES A PHOTO TAKEN FROM ABOVE HIS HEAD WHILE PLAYING AND A CAPTION OF: " Trumpet NAME WITHHELD by request") However, it appears to be the signature of Shelly Manne (perhaps he didn't feel there was enough space in his area of the album sleeve). There is also another mysterious signature off to the the right side which doesn't look like Shelly or Milt Bernhart (perhaps it is that of the mystery trumpet player). Either way, this is a rare piece by all means.
We make no guarantee, expressed or implied, of authenticity of the signatures. However, this piece was found amongst dozens of other old records that had been in storage (albeit improper) for many years in an elderly lady's home. According to records found, she actually resided in California prior to moving to this area.
