Description

Joe Cocker"s 'Mad Dogs and Englishmen' Autographed near-mint condition vinyl album.

*Also comes with an autographed set list from a concert performed at the Fillmore Detroit.

It wasn't too long after this concert, part of his FINAL tour, that he passed away.  It's fitting because it was in Detroit, where he started the tour that this album was recorded LIVE off of back in March 1970.

-Background of the two pieces listed: I worked backstage at the Fillmore Detroit for nearly 15 years, where he put on a very special and intimate show for when the NCAA Final Four Basketball Tournament was in town right down the street. Joe Cocker left a couple of these albums for us crew in his dressing room. A few of us went in there after the show, during the load out, to check for unopened food and drinks that he might have left behind. We found a handful of these, some autographed NCAA Final Four posters with portraits of himself on them, and some signed set lists as well.

A rare piece of music history from one of the icon's last performances ever!

Besides being special because of the original tie of being a concert performed in Detroit Michigan, the album was a huge success and arguably his greatest. Strangely, it features only four of his original songs. The rest are covers, of both Rock (The Rolling Stones, Traffic, The Beatles and Bob Dylan) and of Soul (Ottis Redding, Sam and Dave, and Ray Charles).

I'm sad to see these both go from my collection, but I know they won't have a hard time joining somebody else's. Being in such excellent condition and with a unique story the spans over 40 years of one of music's most talented legends. A must-have for any fan of music in general.
