Description
This a 5 x 7 1/2 Tea Dance Drink List at Frank Dailey's Meadowbrook with autographs on the back by Tommy Dorsey, Frank Sinatra, Buddy Rich, Jo Stafford as a pied Piper, Chuck Lower as a Pied Piper, John Huddleson as a Pied Piper, Connie Haines, Ziggy Elman, and Johnny Mercer. The autographs were gotten personally at the afternoon band concert by Carol Mislan, then Carol Miller, still in High School. The year was about 1941 and all members of the band were under strict contract to Tommy Dorsey. Sinatra had a difficult time breaking the contract before he could make single records. After breaking the contract he was able to sign with Capital Records in 1943 to make singles. His career sky-rocketed after that. Stafford and Haines also got out of their contracts and went on to fame making singles. It is interesting that originally Sinatra was under contract to Harry James who graciously let him out of the contract so he could sign with Dorsey. Johnny Mercer was at the afternoon concert but as an independent song writer was not directly connected to Dorsey. The item is not framed but it is very good condition. It is very likely to be one of a kind item. It has been appraised by an autograph expert. A photo of the certificate is included.
