Avant Garde 6LP Box (Avant Garde). All six records and covers rate NM. Outer box shows some discoloration and small writing on cover so it gets VG+. Incredible collection of experimental classical music including Witold Lutoslawski, Krzysztof Penderecki, Toshiro Mayuzumi, Karlheinz Stockhausen, Mauricio Kagel, Gyorgy Ligeti, David Bedford, Arne Mellnas, Marek Kopelent, Vinko Globokar, Luciano Berio.
All records play-graded - I can’t listen to everything all the way through, but I’ll put the needle down in a few places to make sure it’s consistent throughout, and I always listen to the space between songs since that’s the best place to get a good deep listen for flaws in the vinyl. I try to grade as conservatively as possible - my VG+ is probably like some people’s EX-. I like to actually play records, and assume that you do too, and that you’re looking to get something to listen to, not hang on your wall. My grading system is as follows: M: I don’t believe in mint. Once the record is off the rack it doesn’t exist. NM: As close to mint as you’ll get. VG++: Some minor flaws visible / audible, covers may show signs of wear at the corners, cut out notches and minor discoloration or sticker remnants. VG+: Certainly a keeper - some clicks and pops audible / visible but do not interfere seriously with the listening experience, cover may have seam wear or minor seam damage, or ringwear. VG: Rough, but listenable - good as a place-keeper until you can afford a mint copy. ... and anything below that you're on your own. Covers graded based on similar principles.
