Description

B.A. Rolfe and his Palais D'Or Orchestra play "Sax Appeal" and "Dear Eyes That Haunt Me" on Edison Diamond Disc 52047.  "Sax Appeal" is a modernistic Fud Livingston composition that includes quotes from several jazz standards, including four bars of "In A Mist" -- which Bix hadn't recorded yet, when this was recorded on May 26, 1927.  The band romps through the arrangement at a fast clip, and the reed section handles the complex passages with aplomb.  There are no improvised solos, but it's still a notable hot record.
On the flip side, Ernie Golden and his Hotel McAlpin Orchestra play "Dear Eyes," a peppy fox trot.
This record is in E- condition generally, with a few small scratches that ocassionally tick softly on "Sax Appeal."  "Dear Eyes" has a dig toward the end that ticks a couple of times but does not skip.  Please note that the record is vertically recorded and therefore requires special playback equipment.
I'm a longtime collector who is downsizing.  I know how to pack records.
