Description

Rare RCA Victor Electrical Transcription, featuring B.A. Rolfe & His Terraplane Orchestra - for Hudson Motor Car Co. Matrix M 77491-1. . Program No. 9 . . recorded ca. August 1933 16-inch, one-sided transcription - RCA Victor logo embossed on blank reverse. Program begins with announcer and Men About Town vocal quartet singing "Cheer Up". . . Orchestra plays "Swingy Little Thingy" with vocal chorus by Quartet. . . Orchestra plays instrumental - popular tune, sounds familiar but don't know title. . Orchestra plays "Nightmare" (instrumental) "a musical oddity by B.A. Rolfe" Orchestra plays "Under A Blanket Of Blue" with vocal by featured singer Jack Parker. . . Orchestra plays up-tempo version of "Waiting For The Robert E. Lee" end of program quartet sings part of "Cheer Up" There are several periods of silence between musical selections - probably to allow a local announcer to do commercials or Hudson Terraplane advertising. Condition is excellent. . and plays great ! . . This transcription is pressed in semi-flexible "Victrolac" . .  Victrolac sometimes gathers what I call a dirty or dusty "gunk" in the grooves, and this "gunk" gathers on the stylus as the record is played. . . and the records plays fine after this "cleaning". . . ET collectors may be familiar with this oddity of some 1930's Victrolac pressings. . Victrolac was used for non-commercial movie and transcription records, beginning in 1930-1931. . .
