BABY HUEY - HARD TIMES/LISTEN TO ME [Curtom 1962]
Label: Curtom 1962 Titles: "Hard Times" & "Listen To Me"
Baby Huey was one of many musicians lost to drugs and alcohol. However, like many stars who faded before their time, him music became far more appreciated after his death. This single was released in 1971, posthumously in conjunction with a film and album "The Baby Huey Story - The Living Legend." The film chronicled the rise and fall of Baby Huey. It went on to become a blue print for rap and hip hop music, often sampled and referred to. You can hear the early contributions to rap and hip hop on the Curtis Mayfield penned "Hard Times."
The record itself has a clean label with some ring wear and no writing or stickers. The vinyl is in very good conditon with "Hard Times" being cleaner then "Listen To Me." There are signs of play wear, but they do not impact play. The B side has more scuffing but again, there is no significant impact on the play. Curtom Records was a subsidiary of Buddah Records and the original factory sleeve is included in excellent condition You can listen to the actual record listed here.
