Description
Up for auction is a near mint original copy of the album entitled “The Baby Huey Story – The Living Legend” from 1971.
"James Ramey" aka “Baby Huey,” was the singer of the band “Baby Huey & The Babysitters," who released several 45 rpm singles during the sixties. In 1969, Curtis Mayfield signed “Baby Huey” without his "The Babysitters" on the CURTOM label and produced this record with the help of arranger Donny Hathaway. Ramey died of a heart attack on October 28, 1970 and the record released after his death in 1971. During the late-1960s, the band followed the lead of Sly & the Family Stone and became a psychedelic soul act. Huey began wearing an Afro and donned psychedelic African-inspired robes, and adding sing-song, self-referential rhymes to his live performances. According to his bandmates, Ramey's rhymes were very similar in style to those later popularized by rappers in hip-hop music. This album is issued on the CURTOM label, catalog number is CRS 8007, stereo. Gatefold jacket, distributed by Buddah Records.

Jacket: Jacket is in overall very fine condition, with a couple minor flaws. The top seam has some obvious wear, and there are bumps at each of the corners. Otherwise, the jacket shows beautifully with no ring wear, writing, or other flaws noted. The inside of the gatefold is clean and nice.
Vinyl: Condition of vinyl is near mint with full brilliant gloss. There are a couple very slight scuffs that do not affect the playing, no serious problems. The record plays beautifully with superb fidelity. I think the winning bidder will be quite pleased.
