‘BACH 6 SUITES/SONATAS FOR SOLO CELLO’ MILOS SADLO 1978 1 11 1701 SUPERB! RARE!.
I inherited this stunning triple box-set of Milos Sandlo’s recordings of Bach’s suites for solo cello from my dad. He was a massive collector of all forms of classical music and I still have a large collection of his very early one sided opera 78s from the early 1900s to auction.
Digressions aside, my understanding is that he bought this box set in 1978 when it was issued.
It has been played but has been well looked after. I have cleaned the vinyls carefully with Vinyl Clear but they would undoubtedly benefit from being cleaned with a professional machine.
I use Record Collector gradings. Visually, I would grade all six sides as Ex- as there are few if any markings. I’ve actually listened carefully to all six sides and there are some occasional ‘pops’, especially between tracks, which explains my comments about cleaning the vinyls on a professional machine.
The box has a bit of wear and marking for its 44 years but nothing untoward. The corners and hinge are not damaged. The four page insert is present and is slightly creased but again nothing untoward.
I will send the original inner sleeves but have rehoused the vinyls in Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab original master sleeves.
My understanding is that these are Audiophile historical recordings especially with high end users in mind for reference audition and that this the most sought-after and rare reference recording. To my somewhat untrained ear they sound superb.
