Description

This is Volume II of the Archiv Produktion recordings of JS Bach Chamber Music on 7LPs. It also includes a bonus record of Huguette Dreyfus on harpsichord playing Franzosische Suites 5 & 6 (BWV 816, 817) plus Fantasie und Fuge (BWV 944). The various pieces have recording dates ranging from 1961 - 1975. There are two booklets: "J.S. Bach - Life and Works The Instruments" written by Jurgen Eppelsheim, 28 pages, illustrated, in German, French & English. The copyright notice in the booklet is dated 1975. The second insert is a four page leaflet, listing the programme, players, instruments, track timings, recording dates, place and date of composition, recording supervisor and recording engineer (once again, in 3 languages). The box, records and inserts were all made in Germany. The discs come in poly-lined plain paper inners, apart from the bonus disc, which has its own printed sleeve (see photo). Box will be packaged in heavy-duty corrugated cardboard with additional bubble-wrap.

Condition of Discs

The discs look unplayed. They are flat and the playing surfaces are glossy and clean. Centre labels are free of writing, sticky labels or stains; and show no signs of "squirreling" or spindle wear around the centre hole. I have played samples from the discs and they play beautifully, with no apparent loss of high-end frequncies. Overall, I have graded the discs conservatively as ‘Excellent’ (Record Collector).

Condition of Box & Inserts

The box has some shelf/handling wear, particularly at the corners, but no writing, stains or sticky labels. The inserts are clean and without folds, tears, stains or writing.
