BACH FLUTE SONATAS Gale Record (very rare sound)
There are great records, to be sure, and then there are the very special ones. Trouble in describing them, though, especially for people like you and me, the audiophiles and serious music lovers, is that superlatives eventually run dry, lose their weight and meaning.
That's why I want to be sure to underline this record set in your mind. It is the COMPLETE FLUTE SONATAS of JS Bach, pressed by Gale Maximum Fidelity Records, and it is, without a doubt, among the very finest records ever produced. I am not quite sure how they do it or just what they do differently that puts the flute, cello and harpsichord right in your room, but that's what happens. Not just "real" sounding, mind you. "Alive" is more like it. Fact is, if I had to describe in a few words what the one major difference is in this set versus any Mobile Fidelity or Classic re-issue or first stamper original, it would be this:
The removal of all veils.
So that I do not use superlatives from here on out, let me tell you more succinctly that recently I sold a Gale Max Fidelity record to an eBayer here who is truly a formidable audiophile. Great system at home, great set of ears. (Trust me, I know the real ones when I "meet" them, having been one myself, both professionally and otherwise, for over thirty years.)
Anyway, he shares with me that when he puts the disc on, and the music begins, he notices his cat suddenly very attentive of the music. In fact, REALLY attentive. So, curious, this audiophile changes the record and now throws everything he's got in his collection at the cat to see if he can illicit the same response. $1000 collectible MoFi? Nope. 45 RPM Classic single disc re-issue? Nope. Fact is, nothing but the Gale perked those feline ears. Much the same way I was reminded, years ago, with my little white haired Peanut, who, upon hearing this disc, hopped down off the couch and crawled, low, defensive, toward the loudspeakers, wondering, I guess, how it could possibly be that what she heard so vividly couldn't actually be seen.
Deluxe box is without wear of any kind. Booklet is clean and intact. Of the four record sides, one tiny nic near the end of side 1; otherwise, pure shine.
